Key West Fishing Report - Late October & Early
November 2007
Key West waters have been churned up lately by some weather
but that does not keep us from doing well and catching some decent fish.
Dolphin fishing has been pretty good this week. A few rips directly south
of Key West have been holding dolphin in the 15- to 20- pound range. The
trick is to get out there early and get on them. We will troll for dolphin
because it is the most effective way to catch them. We also will troll deeper
with a downrigger for wahoo on some of the deep structures off the end of
the Boca Grande Bar.
Wahoo fishing should improve this month. We get some
great runs of wahoo through the Lower Keys. These fish can be anywhere
from a few pounds up
to 50- pounds plus! Sailfish, tuna and bonito will complete the fall fishing.
These species are available now and will become more prominant in the
weeks to come.
Reef & Wreck fishing has been consistant for yellowtail
snapper, mutton snapper, grouper and amberjack. We do fish the reef and
shallower wrecks
when the weather is too rough offshore. It offers our anglers a chance
to experience a different kind of fishing plus keep them comfortable on
the
boat.
For an updated fishing report please call me at 305-923-1043.
We have openings in the coming weeks and during Fantasy Fest and
the Parrothead
Convention if you are looking to escape the crowd for part
of a day and see why so many people love coming to the Keys - to be on
the water. Looking towards Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years - book
your charter early to guarantee a reservations!
Live baiting for sailfish is one of our specialties. Conditions
in April and May promote good sailflishing plus it is the time for large
dolphin to move in closer too. Dolphin are being caught off Key West that
top the scales at 50- pounds, plus there are plenty of 20- pound fish and
some schoolie dolphin for the taking.
Trolling the deeper wrecks can produce some blackfin tuna,
king mackerel and wahoo. It just really depends on the conditions.
May will be excellent for mutton snapper fishing. Trolling
the outer bar for spawning mutton snapper is a lot of fun and we also tend
to catch some nice sized grouper and yellowtail snapper.
Fishing in Key West Florida
The
waters around Key West are what makes our fishing so special. Between the
Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico we have numerous opportunities to
fish offshore or fish near the reef or on wrecks. This provides us with
the array of gamefish and eating fish that the Florida Keys are known for.
Captain Bennett
Taylor has been fishing in Key West for more than a decade. His experience
comes from spending time as a mate and as a captain. He utilizes many
styles of fishing including trolling, live bait fishing, jigging and bottom
fishing in order to give the best opportunity to catch fish.
The Outer Limits offers private
fishing charters for four hours, six hours and eight hours. We provide
all fishing tackle, fishing licenses, and a professional mate on board
to assist with your fishing and to clean your catch.
Key West Fishing for Sailfish
One of the best display of aerobatics in our Key
West waters is from the sailfish. We have a tremendous run of sailfish each
year in the winter and spring months. We strive to give our anglers every
opportunity to catch a sailfish if they desire. Captain Bennett Taylor uses
many methods to fish for sailfish including kite fishing, live bait fishing
and trolling. [ more ]
